Dr. Sara Ivanhoe

A Compassionate Approach to Sleep Support

Yoga, breathwork, and meditation, adapted to you, to help you sleep better.

You’ve heard from the experts. You know the list of do’s and don’ts, and maybe you’ve tried a protocol or two.

Beyond all of that, there is you, alone at night, finding your way.

Sleep coaching with Dr. Ivanhoe is support for that place. The aim is better sleep, and we work toward it together with practices chosen and adapted for you. We also make room for the nights that don’t go as planned, so sleep never becomes a test you pass or fail.

Yoga, breathwork, and meditation aren’t interchangeable. Some calm the nervous system and others energize it, so the breathing exercise that settles one person can keep another awake. We keep a simple record of your sleep, notice what your nights are doing, and adjust your practices week by week. Where it helps, we revisit the basics too (timing, light, a wind-down routine), shaped to your life rather than handed down as rules.

This is not cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), a clinical treatment provided by licensed clinicians. It is a method developed by Dr. Ivanhoe around the Three R’s: Reflection, Regulation, and Resilience.

Sleep and lifestyle shape each other.

How you sleep affects your days, and how you live affects your nights.

The work aims to improve your sleep without turning it into something you succeed or fail at, or one more item to check off your to-do list. You have unconditional support through that two-way relationship, steady on the good nights and just as steady on the hard ones.

Reflection

Regulation

Resilience

Dr. Ivanhoe developed severe chronic insomnia as a toddler, at times going days without sleep. This condition went undiagnosed for years and contributed to ongoing physical and mental health challenges. Out of this lived experience, she has dedicated her life to studying and developing supportive tools for sleep. For Dr. Ivanhoe, sleep is not a passing wellness trend but both a lifelong challenge and the foundation of a sustained spiritual practice. Her pedagogical and scholarly work centers on the “Three R’s” of Reflection, Regulation, and Resilience, which form the cornerstone of her approach to contemplative education and well-being.
